Within the grounds of The Roxburghe Hotel we have a half-acre lake, this is fully stocked with Rainbow Trout varying in size from 3/4lb to 5lb.
The water can take a maximum of 6 rods at any one time. All fishing is done from the bank with no catch and release. The lake has proved very popular using lures such as the Viva and the Ace of Spades, as well as traditional wet and dry flies.
Instruction and Equipment can also be offered.
His Grace, The Duke of Roxburghe, who also owns The Roxburghe Hotel and The Roxburghe Golf Course, has two of the very best beats in Scotland. Both are on the River Tweed and are complete with two ghillies.
Upper Floors, which lies North of Floors Castle, boasts such famous pools as the Shot, the Weetles and the Slates. The prime time of year to fish this beat is the month of October.
Lower Floors, which lies in front of the Castle also has famous pools such as the Slap, Innes Cast, Garden Wall and the Ferry Pool. Again, this beat fishes best in October.
We also have 1 1/2 miles of private picturesque water on the River Teviot, where we can arange a ghillie for you. This water can be fished for trout throughout the Summer, and for salmon in the Spring and Autumn.
